Welcome to another Reddit tutorial for LoyalFans promotion. This time, we will go a little bit deeper covering some aspects you need to be aware of. Reddit is a powerful platform with huge potential, but you need to know a few things to keep out of trouble and make sure your posts get seen. I will explain here how to avoid the most common mistakes on Reddit.
1. Promoting, but no spam?
When you promote your LoyalFans, you don’t want to come across as a spammy account. Reddit members see this easily, and they don’t like it. Here are some tips to not look spammy.
· Keep in touch with members: Don’t just post your image or your links and leave. It’s important to reply in comments (as much as possible), reply to posts, and be involved in various other communities where you don’t promote.
· Use smart titles that suggest a click: Don’t just say “Hey, check out my LoyalFans.” Instead, tease something interesting or unique about your content or what makes your post/account/page a must see.
· Don’t post too much: If you post too often in one community, people might think you’re spamming – and moderators don’t like this either. Some communities have limits on posting, and you have to read the rules. In general, posting once or twice per day in the same community should be all right. If you do do this, please use unique images per post. Members don’t enjoy seeing the same image over and over again.
· Promote your own posts: Don’t promote your links/profile in other content creators’ posts.
2. New Accounts Have Limits
If your Reddit account is new, there are some restrictions you’ll need to deal with. The limitations come from two directions. First from Reddit, who is pretty careful with new users, because they want to avoid spam. Second, from Subreddit posting rules.
· Reddit: You can’t post too much right away: New accounts can’t make multiple posts in a row. You will likely be blocked for 10 minutes with a warning you are posting too much as a new account. It’s better to take your time, browse other communities, comment on other posts, upvote/downvote, and build up a good reputation.
· Subreddits: Karma requirements: Many subreddits will ask for a certain amount of karma before you can post there. They are doing this because they want to keep the spam away. If any account can start posting, they would be ruining the subreddits.
Keep in mind, karma requirements are most often related to the size of the subreddit. If a subreddit is large, the karma requirements will be higher compared to the requirements from a smaller subreddit.
Now, on to what karma is… and how to get it!
3. What’s Karma and How to Get It?
On Reddit, karma is a sort of personal score. It shows how much people appreciate your posts and comments. There are three types of karma, and each one is earned differently:
· Link Karma: This type of karma comes from making posts and uploading images/GIFs or links. If your post is interesting and people like and upvote it, you’ll earn link karma. The more upvotes, the more karma you get.
· Comment Karma: You get comment karma when people upvote your comments made on reddit overall (not just those made on your profile). So, if your comments get traction and they are appreciated, you’ll see your comment karma go up.
· Subreddit Karma: This needs to be mentioned, but it’s not necessarily required. Some subreddits require you to have karma earned in their community to be able to post. That means you need to comment first in that community to get upvotes to earn subreddit karma. It’s a way to show you’re active and contributing to that subreddit.
How do you earn karma?
Earning karma might seem impossible in the beginning, but you just need to know a few things and have a bit of patience.
· Karma subreddits. The easiest way is to search for free karma surbreddits and to start posting there to get karma. It’s a place where people like you help each other get the karma required for posting faster. Example: r/KarmaNSFW18 /r/FreeKarma4You/
· General Posts. You can make posts in general subreddits like r/meme or r/awww or any pet related communities trying to get karma from posts.
· Alway Post Interesting Things: A smart practice is to use content from popular posts found in sites like 9gag and make the post on reddit in appropiate subreddits. They’ll upvote it, and you’ll get karma.
· Comment on popular posts made on general subreddits: Browse big communities like r/awww or r/mademesmile and comment on the trending posts. Make smart comments and they would get traction and you will receive upvotes and karma.
· To get specific subreddit karma: If a subreddit requires subreddit karma, you need to be active in that community making comments. After people upvote your comments, you’ll build your karma in that specific subreddit, and then you can make posts!
It’s worth noting that LoyalFans’ Reddit community doesn’t require karma for you to make posts. If you want to avoid all this struggle, you can easily rely on our LoyalFans powered community.
Keep in mind, comment karma can drop to negative levels if the comment is heavily downvoted. After you make a comment, do a refresh in 20-30 minutes or after 1 hour. If the comment has downvotes, ee strongly suggest you delete it as it might lead to negative comment karma – like – 2 or – 263 – if you get a lot of downvotes. With negative karma, you will struggle to find places where you can post comments.
4. Promoting in Different Subreddits
Reddit is full of different subreddits (communities). Each one has its own topic/subject, as well as its own set of rules. You will need to search for communities where your content fits. Please don’t post off-topic content, or you will be banned.
We offer a LoyalFans powered community, but you can make posts in other subreddits as well.
Search for different subjects using general terms and also niche terms. You will find general subreddits with a wider audience and also niche subreddits. Niche subreddits that are closely related with to topic.
· General subreddits: Subreddits that have a more general topic are a good source of traffic if your content fits on those and if you are able / allowed to post. I will give an example. It’s one of the biggest nsfw subreddits but posting there is extremely difficult. r/RealGirls is the name of the subreddit, but moderators are extremely picky when they choose who can make a post and who can’t.
· Niche subreddits: Depending on what you do, you might find smaller, more focused subreddits. Examples include r/joi or r/sph or r/highheels or r/stockings or r/findom and so on.
No matter what subreddit you choose to use please follow their rules as rules are different from one community to another.
5. Verified, Restricted, and Non-Verified Subreddits
In order to be able to post, you need to see if the subreddit is open for posting. You can determine this by checking out a subreddit’s category. Subreddits fall into three main categories: verified, restricted, and non-verified.
· Verified subreddits: Some subreddits need you to prove you’re the person in the content you’re posting. They ask for a photo verification. Most of the time, they require 3 pictures with a piece of paper with name and date. Once you’re verified, you can make posts on that particular community.
· Restricted subreddits: In these subreddits, only approved users can post. You’ll need to send a message to the moderators and kindly ask to be approved, mentioning that your content is suitable for the community. They’ll probably want you to verify yourself first as well.
· Non-verified subreddits: These are more open. You can post without any verification, but it’s a bit of a free-for-all and there’s more competition. Also the non-verified subreddits tend to have high karma requirements and high spam filters.
Why verify? Verification builds trust and shows people you’re the real deal. Also, you can post on verified subreddits where the competition is a bit lower. Posting in verified subreddits proves that you are a real account and members are more likely to engage with your content.
6. Posting in SFW Subreddits
You can try to make posts outside the NSFW subreddits, as there are a lot of huge subreddits that might help you to get a lot of exposure.
You need to be careful though as most of SFW (Safe for Work) communities don’t allow adult content. I don’t want to talk about direct advertising outside of one point: Don’t even try it.
· r/AskReddit is one of the most popular SFW subreddits where you can engage by posting or commenting. A good post can help you get a lot of attention and exposure.
· r/AskRedditAfterDark/: It’s the NSFW version of the above subreddit. You can put NSFW questions here. This is also a good place where you can get attention.
· r/AMA – Ask Me Anything! If you have something interesting to share, you might try to post an AMA as some of those tend to have a lot of interaction. Please read the rules of the subreddits and avoid being banned.
· Getting flagged as spam: If you’re posting too much or seem overly promotional, you might get flagged by other users or auto-moderators.
7. What is a Shadowban?
A shadowban is when Reddit blocks you, but you won’t know it. You’ll keep posting, but no one else will see your posts or comments.
· Why I’m shadowbanned: No one ever knows exactly why they are shadowbanned. Each website keeps this private otherwise it would be useless. Most likely, a shadowban may be due to posting too much in the beginning. If you post the same link or message across many subreddits too quickly, you might get flagged as spam and shadowbanned.
· Check if you’re shadowbanned: You can use a subreddit named: r/ShadowBan/ to see if your account was shadowbanned. Read the subreddit rules on how you can do this.
If you are shadowbanned, you only have two options. One, you can drop the account and create a new one. (It’s better to change your IP if you opt for this.) Or, two, you can write to the reddit admins and ask them to remove the shadowban from your account.
8. What to Do if You Get Banned in a Subreddit?
Sometimes, even if you’re following the rules of a community, you might get banned from a subreddit. Sometimes this happens because of reasons you can’t even imagine! It’s not nice, but it’s also not the end of the world. What should you do?
· First, check the rules: Go over the subreddit’s rules again and compare them with the last post or comment you made on that community.
· Reach out to the moderators: If you identify the reason for the ban, send a polite message explaining what happened, that you made a mistake and you will not do it again, and kindly ask to be unbanned. If you don’t know the reason, you should send them another message and ask them kindly what is wrong. In any of those cases, don’t accuse them. Communicate nicely and politely. Ask for feedback and for an unban.
· Mods don’t reply: Sometimes moderators decide to be silent, and that’s their call. You can try again after a few days with a similar nice message asking the same thing. Don’t insist too much as moderators can mute an account, preventing it from writing them.
· Move on: If the ban remains, it’s best to move on and focus on other communities.
Unfortunately posting in a subreddit is not a right… It’s a privilege, and moderators decide who can make posts and who can’t. If they decide to keep you banned, there is nothing you can do. At that moment, it’s better to move on and not stress too much about it.
9. Banned on Reddit?
Sometimes, there is the chance to have the account banned by reddit itself. At that moment, you need to know that reddit saw something suspicious in your account’s behavior or the location of the IP, and they decided to ban you.
In most of the cases, they do give a reason for the ban. In others, they don’t. We strongly suggest you make a ban appeal right away and explain why you should be unbanned. Explain politely that they made a mistake.
If the ban appeal is a negative one, you should move on and create a new account.
10. Why Didn’t My Post Show Up?
Sometimes, your post won’t appear in a subreddit. It’s usually because subreddits use settings, bots, or auto-mod tools, and your post is removed when you made it.
· Why posts get blocked: Subreddits often use bots to stop spam. Some of the possible reasons: Clickbait title used, posting too much / too frequently, not enough karma to make a post, not enough age (account is not seasoned) to make a post, posting vids in a subreddit for pictures, posting offtopic, content, and the list continues. Moderators also reserve the right to remove any post they don’t like.
· What to do: If this happens, just message the moderators politely and ask what went wrong. If they don’t answer, go back and read the subreddit’s rules again. You might find the reason there. Don’t make a new post right away though as you can reach the posting frequency limit.
11. Good Posting Attitude
Here are some suggestion on what’s a good posting attitude:
· Don’t repost the same picture everywhere: Some subreddits have bots that will flag re-posted images. This includes reposting the same image on the same subreddit, or reposting an already posted image anywhere in reddit.
· Change the titles you are using: Don’t use the same title over and over again. It looks spammy, and it might lead to removal.
· Don’t flood subreddits with posts: If one post goes through and you received a lot of attention, don’t start posting again on the same subreddit. One post per day in a subreddit should be fine. If the subreddit allows, you can make 2 posts. Unfortunately, posting too much in too short of a time period is spammy – and you can get blocked!
· Post relevant content on-topic. Please respect the topic of the subreddit and make posts that fit in with that particular community.
· Respect the SFW/NSFW subreddits: Make sure you’re posting your adult content in NSFW subreddits. Posting NSFW content in SFW subreddits will get you banned in no time. If you make posts in SFW subreddits keep the post / title and comments sfw and avoid any issues.
12. Moderators Don’t Reply or Don’t Approve/Verify You
Sometimes, no matter how polite you are, moderators may not allow you to post in their community due to various reasons. Here are some tips to save time.
· Moderators have the last word. Posting in a subreddit is a privilege not a right. Moderators can decide what they do in their community, and they decide who they allow to participate.
· Be respectful: If they don’t approve your request or the verification, send them a kind message in a friendly tone, asking for permission to post.
· Don’t get angry: If you lose your temper, things will get worse. You could get banned from that subreddit, and possibly from others as subreddits related as you are seen as a troublemaker.
· Be patient: Some of the subreddits might refuse to let you post, and that’s okay. There are plenty of other subreddits where you can promote. Move on without making hateful posts or comments, as it won’t change anything.
Don’t be rude, and definitely don’t insult or harass mods. As this would trigger a chain reaction and, most likely, you will be mass banned or removed from other communities as well.
Conclusion
Even though all this might seem overwhelming or too much, there are hundreds of thousands of content creators on Reddit who are successfully promoting their social media profiles. You can do the same.
The actual process is not difficult, but you do need to have some patience and to learn how the system works. That’s probably the most difficult part.
To sum it up: Follow the rules, engage with members in a genuine way, don’t spam, and post quality content. You got this!
