How did you start in the business, and is it different from what you expected? How so?
Sophia: I got my start because Jasper and I were working a really crappy restaurant job as the pandemic was starting. I knew Jasper worked in the industry before we met, so I quit and walked up to him and asked if he wanted to make porn again!
It is very different from what I expected. I thought it would be really awkward and invasive, but it’s something I’ve really grown to enjoy and wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Jasper: My former partner/now ex-wife and I had just become parents. We were bored one night and decided to see what camming was all about. A few weeks later, we were scammed out of a house we were looking to buy. Having sold the current place we were living in, we ended up homeless and living in a hotel room. Thanks to family helping with child care, we started camming to pay bills. It was our only source of income since we resigned from our jobs having planned to move out-of-state.
Along the way, I found out my partner had previous experience in sexting, so we weren’t exactly starting with no knowledge. I really didn’t know what to expect. I remember the first time I received a tip was shocking. It blew my mind that people actually would spend money just listening to me or her and I talk. That’s all that was happening at that moment.
I didn’t realize at that time just how involved the industry was. It is so much more than taking a few pictures or being naked in front of a camera. I love how many moving parts there are to working online. I’m proud to call it my career and plan on being around for years to come.
We all know that being an online content creator is a 24/7 job. How do you keep up with the workflow and demands of today’s industry?
Sophia: Having specific schedules and knowing when your “dead” (low traffic) periods will happen helps a lot with keeping up filming, releasing content, eating, and talking to family. It is super important to know when you want to be active and when you need to be active.
Most importantly, you have to treat it like a job because it is a job. When you treat it only as “extra income” or “for fun,” it shows and it doesn’t keep people around. Fans want someone reliable and consistent.
Jasper: I track current events, holidays, and the general mood of the internet. There are days that you can tell trying hard or heavily advertising is going to be a waste of energy. It is important to know when you are going to have a good day and when it is best to focus on self-care or your personal obligations.
There are going to be days where you can’t keep up with everything, and those are the days to put your focus on the things you do best and the fans who are always there. The slower days are great for experimenting with new things and potentially attracting a new audience. The burnout is real, but knowing when and where to be online helps prevent burnout and let’s you take the time you need to recharge.
What are some other things people think are easy about your job but are actually really challenging?
Sophia: Filming videos and making sure everything is in frame and the camera is the right angle is probably the most difficult. I think long video calls can be challenging too. Trying to be entertaining and engaging for long periods of time can be draining.
Jasper: I think always trying to come up with new ideas, whether it is for a video or even ways to engage with fans or advertise, is a constant challenge.
What’s your favorite feature on Loyalfans? What’s most useful to your business?
Sophia: Integrated paid messaging and calls. Everyone — creator and fans — can have everything in one place.
Jasper: Media Sync. 100% the BEST feature on LoyalFans. I love having a cloud for all of the videos, pictures, GIFs, etc. that I can organize and have access to any time I need it.
What is your first big online goal you want to hit?
Sophia: To be searchable on Google when you search for “porn.” Not there quite yet!
When people go to look for content, they may keep the search simple. I want to appear at the top, and for my content to be easily found by my fans.
Jasper: I want to do it all. I want to be known for doing things differently. Combining everything that brings people together into one “network,” so to speak. Food, travel, DIY, and adult content. I view it as showing people the different parts of life — and exploring life with an audience along for the ride.
People often feel A LOT of pressure to get a bunch of gear when they first start creating content online. What do you think are the most useful things to have when you’re very first starting out?
Sophia: Starting out you need lingerie/outfits and toys/props. Our biggest upgrade that we could use right now would be a camera.
Jasper: A cell phone and good lighting. Good lighting doesn’t mean expensive or fancy, but some sort of light you can manipulate to get steady, even coverage for photos and videos. The big upgrade right now would be a 4k DSLR camera and a new desktop computer. The computer we are using right now is basically held together with duct tape.
What’s one thing you do for work that’s “unexpected”…like, no one does this except YOU?
Sophia: For me, being literally in lingerie all day and taking live photos. My new fans are constantly surprised that I take brand new photos for them. I didn’t expect it to be that surprising for so many when I first started.
Jasper: My folders of lists, spreadsheets, and tracking data online is probably way over-the-top compared to most people. I have lists for content ideas, sites for selling, sites for advertising, etc. My spreadsheets cover daily earnings per site, daily earnings overall per day/month/year, current events, etc.
I love my lists and graphs!
What’s your go-to selfcare activity or down time ritual of choice?
Sophia: A hot epsom salt bath — like, really hot with loud music. Always clears my head!
Jasper: During the warmer weather, nothing re-energizes me like a cold beer around a campfire.
Working from home can sometimes feel isolating. What do you do to help stave off feelings of loneliness or isolation?
Sophia: I’m never really alone. Jasper and I work side-by-side all day, every day. But we still feel isolated at times. I talk to family on the phone or we will go out to eat if we feel like being around people.
Jasper: I talk to family, go out to eat or to the bar for a few drinks, and go hiking at a busy park. Camming online sometimes is even enough to shake the feeling. Just getting to chat with different people from time to time is nice enough for me.
Who is your peer mentor, inspiration, or someone you just admire or respect in the industry?
Sophia: Before I met Jasper, I didn’t really know anything about the industry. I guess you could say he is my mentor!
Jasper: Johnny Sins has always been an inspiration. He has traveled the world, worked with dozens of other creators, and has worked in the industry for YEARS.
When I first started camming, I always looked up to CookinBaconNaked (Jake & Scar), too. I’m pretty sure they are retired now, but they had great chemistry and were highly entertaining. They were extremely motivated, and that always inspired me to try harder to get where I wanted to go.
Besides working, what’s your favorite pastime or hobby? Tell us about it!
Sophia: Listening to music and watching anime. It is relaxing and a healthy distraction for me.
Jasper: I love cooking and trying to develop my own recipes. Watching anime, science fiction movies, and documentaries are good time killers too.
What’s your sign? Is it an accurate description of you?
Sophia: Scorpio — I would say it used to be me, but I’m a lot more level headed now. Some of the more positive traits, like being ambitious and passionate, still represent me.
Jasper: Taurus, and I’m pretty much 100% as described. I can be really stubborn but that can be a good thing when aiming for a specific goal. I work hard, and I work a lot.
